CANADA – According to the Canadian Pediatric Society (CPS), Canada needs to devote more of its efforts to the health and safety of its children. Based on Tuesday’s biennial report, federal, provincial and territorial governments can take concrete steps to “better protect and promote kids’ health and well-being in areas such as injury and disease prevention”. The CPS urges governments to implement programs for children that reduce economic disparities in Canada, since 700, 000 of the country’s 5 million residents live in poverty. The Canadian Pediatric Society is asking for increased investments in early childhood education and emphasizes how the returns on investments will be much higher.
